The myth of the Naiads

In Greek mythology, the Naiads are considered to be the daughters of Zeus, the river gods or the ocean.
Aquatic nymphs that mortals love to worship because of their eternal freshness and special beauty. They are often depicted half-naked, crowned with flowers that live and protect fresh water, rivers, springs, fountains and any other water point.
They were said to have healing talents and the sick came to drink water from their source but, in general, bathing in their water point was considered sacrilege and the bather was exposed to various discomforts.
The mere sight of a Naiad was also a risky thing because it could lead to temporary madness. However, it should be noted that many Naiads were lovers or mothers of heroes.
